District Bar Hyd Elects Office Bearers, MMC
HYDERABAD, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 21st Aug, 2026) The legal fraternity has elected advocate Shakir Nawaz Shar and advocate Abdul Razzaque Dars as President and General Secretary, respectively, of the District Bar Association Hyderabad by a slim margin of votes.
Results
According to the announced results on Friday by the Returning Officer Amel Khan Kasi:
- Shar secured 681 votes for President, followed by advocate Abdul Malik Shaikh with 674 votes and advocate Shahzeb Abbassi with 259 votes.
- Advocate Dars received 582 votes for General Secretary, while advocate Naveed Jarwar trailed behind by a small margin of 7 votes.
The results of both positions have faced challenges from the runners-up, who have requested a recount.
Other Elected Members:
- Vice President: Advocate M Amir Qureshi (611 votes)
- Joint Secretary: Advocate Faraz Kandhro (considerable margin)
- Library Secretary: Advocate Abid Hussain Chang (substantial margin)
- Treasurer: Advocate Pardeep Kumar Soni (498 votes), followed by advocates Abdul Ahad Kaka (409 votes) and Sohail Ahmed Solangi (395 votes).
Among 22 candidates, the following were elected to the 7-member Members Managing Committee (MMC):
