District Admin Alerted After 20 Gastro Patients Reported at a Village

(KHANEWAL, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 23rd Aug, 2026)) District administration on Sunday took swift action after gastroenteritis cases were reported in Chak 147/10-R, Jahanian tehsil, with Tehsil Headquarters Hospital receiving 20 patients suffering from gastro and stroke-like symptoms. Of these, 7 have been discharged while 13 remain under treatment, with their condition stated to be stable.
Water samples collected from the area were found satisfactory, with no evidence of contamination detected in the supply, a district administration spokesperson added.
Officials said the possible causes of the gastro outbreak were being investigated, and health department teams were closely monitoring the situation.
An Assistant Commissioner visited the affected area to review the situation on the spot. The spokesperson said water was being supplied to the locality through a private water supply scheme, and despite the water report coming back positive, the tehsil administration had suspended the supply as a precautionary measure two days earlier.
