Dog 'Grounded' After Rescue from Roof of House

Two days ago, a dog named Sweetie made headlines after he was rescued from a neighbor's roof by Falmouth Community Firefighters. His owner, Emma Seager, expressed her immense gratitude towards the rescuers.
Seager shared that Sweetie, a rescue dog from Macedonia, is adventurous and has adapted their home accordingly, but this escapade was unexpected. "He likes to get out and about... we didn't ever dream he'd be able to open a window and scramble up the roof," she said.
On August 19th, firefighters used a 44.3-foot ladder to bring Sweetie back to safety. Seager emphasized the risk involved, noting that "it could have had a very different ending."
Jon Walker, from Falmouth Community Fire Station, described how the dog was stuck on the apex of a two-story house and had entered through an open first-floor bedroom window onto the roof. The team took care not to startle Sweetie during the rescue to ensure his safe descent.
They successfully brought him down using a specialized ladder that requires four crew members to handle. Walker described how Sweetie happily jumped into his rescuer's arms upon reaching ground level.
"It is a rarity and we get far fewer cats than people would believe," he added.
Seager concluded by saying, "Sweetie is back on solid ground - for now - but we still expect more shenanigans from him."
