DPM Assures Government’s Commitment to Supporting Provinces

ISLAMABAD, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 18th Aug, 2026) Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister (DPM/FM), Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, on Tuesday assured that the government remains committed to supporting the provinces in ensuring stable prices and an adequate supply of essential commodities, including wheat.

Assuring Transparency and Coordination

The deputy prime minister chaired a meeting of the Steering Committee on the import of wheat and directed relevant officials to conduct the entire process with full transparency and close coordination with all provinces.

Stocktaking Wheat Import Requirements

The DPM/FM took stock of the requirements for wheat imports, communicated by all provinces, and tasked the Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP) with initiating preparations for the import of one million metric tons of wheat.
