DPM Dar Chairs Meeting on Wheat Stocks, Directs PASSCO to Ensure Timely Supply to Provinces
ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 3rd Sep, 2026) Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister (DPM/FM), Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, on Thursday, chaired a meeting to review wheat stocks in the country and directed PASSCO to immediately supply wheat to the provinces as per the allocations approved by the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) and the Steering Committee.
The deputy prime minister expressed appreciation for the cooperation and coordination extended by all provinces, the Ministry of National Food Security and Research, and the Ministry of Commerce in addressing issues related to wheat imports, stabilizing prices, and curbing hoarding.
He further directed provinces to ensure timely payments and lifting of allocated wheat supplies. The meeting reaffirmed the decision to import up to one million metric tonnes of wheat, with the Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP) tasked to initiate the process immediately. In the initial phase, 250,000 metric tonnes of wheat will be imported, with delivery scheduled for November.
Dar emphasized that all relevant institutions must maintain close coordination to guarantee sufficient wheat availability, stable prices, and consumer relief across Pakistan.
