DPM directs implementation of restructuring plan for DISCOs
ISLAMABAD, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 22nd Aug, 2026) Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar chaired a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Privatisation (CCoP).
CCoP approves restructuring plan for Batch-I DISCOs
CCoP approved the Restructuring Plan for FESCO, GEPCO & IESCO, including the transfer of DISCOs’ land assets to the government-owned Power Holding Company as a holding company.
DPM/FM stresses on expeditious implementation
The DPM/FM directed the swift implementation of the plan, emphasizing that the government’s privatisation initiative will enhance service quality provided by DISCOs and reduce losses.
The plan will be executed through a Scheme of Arrangement (SoA) to be submitted to the SECP.
