DPM/FM Calls For Efficiency, Sustainability, Improved Outcomes for Electricity Consumers
ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 5th Sep, 2026) Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar emphasized the need for a consumer-centric way forward, ensuring that ongoing reforms and privatization translate into greater efficiency, sustainability, and improved outcomes for electricity consumers.
He chaired the meeting of the committee constituted by the prime minister to review the proposed reforms in the power sector, as stated in a press release from the DPM Office.
The meeting was attended by the Minister for Power, Minister for EAD, SAPM Tariq Bajwa, secretaries cabinet, power, National Coordinator-NCMC, and senior Federal and provincial officials.
The DPM/FM underscored: the importance of driving the reform process with a clear focus on results, institutional effectiveness, and the long-term sustainability of the power sector.
The meeting reviewed progress on the reform and privatization agenda, including institutional strengthening and capacity building of key institutions in the power sector.
