DPM/FM Dar Directs Close Coordination for SAF Games Venue Preparation
ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 5th Sep, 2026) Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar has directed all relevant parties to ensure close coordination, timely venue completion, and adhere to high standards for the successful hosting of the South Asian Federation (SAF) Games.
During a meeting with the Steering Committee on SAF Games preparations, he also directed the committee to hold monthly meetings for progress monitoring. The Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed this in a press release.
Attended by Advisor to the Prime Minister (PM) on Inter Provincial Coordination (IPC), Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) Tariq Bajwa, Secretary IPC, provincial government representatives, and senior Federal and provincial officials, the meeting noted that the dates for the Games have been finalized from April 4th to 11th, 2027, in coordination with the South Asian Olympic Committee.
The appointment of a National Coordinator and the composition of steering, organizing, and provincial committees were approved. It was highlighted that 28 sports will be contested, with over 6,000 athletes and officials expected, with events held in Islamabad, Punjab, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
