ECP (Election Commission of Pakistan) organized a meeting of the INVR-V District Coordination Committee at the office of the District Election Commissioner Shaheed Benazirabad, chaired by District Election Commissioner Khalid Ahmed Mirza. The meeting thoroughly reviewed matters pertaining to the gender gap between male and female voters, as well as the issuance of new Computerized National Identity Cards (CNICs).
Representatives from various organizations, including NADRA, education, health, social welfare, women's development, local government, municipal corporations, the Information Department, the National Disability & Development Forum, PODA, SMi Foundation, RDF, and others, attended.
The gathering discussed strategies to bridge the gender gap in voter registration and CNIC issuance, emphasizing the need for effective coordination and cooperation among participating institutions.
District Election Commissioner Mirza urged the representatives of these institutions to foster strong collaboration for successful voter registration, particularly by addressing challenges faced by women in obtaining identity documents. He highlighted the Election Commission of Pakistan's initiative to set up camps through the NADRA mobile Van Service, which has successfully issued CNICs and registered many women as voters. He asked all members to support the Election Commission in promoting voter registration among women, with the aim of reducing the existing gender gap.
