Effective Steps Afoot for Trade and Industry Development: Minister Mujtaba
Punjab Finance Minister Mian Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman stated on Thursday that under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the Punjab government is taking significant measures to foster business activity, attract investment, expedite industrial development, and create new job opportunities. Facilitating the business community and making the private sector a partner in economic growth are core aspects of the government's economic policy.
He made these remarks while addressing the Third Business Excellence Awards & Conference 2026 as the chief guest at a local hotel, organized by Tajiran Ittehad Group All Pakistan and Events Media (Pvt.) Ltd. The event gathered representatives from the business community, industrialists, traders, and business leaders who have excelled in various sectors.
The Finance Minister highlighted that, in line with the Chief Minister's vision, Punjab is streamlining the process of establishing new businesses and expanding existing ones. Initiatives such as Asaan Karobar Card and Asaan Karobar Finance offer interest-free financial aid to small and medium-sized entrepreneurs, aiming to boost business activity, create jobs, and broaden economic participation across the province.
Mian Mujtaba noted that the Punjab government has established Business Facilitation Centres to provide easier access to various government services for businesses and investors. These centres offer a one-stop shop for obtaining NOCs, licenses, and permits from different departments, reducing procedural bottlenecks and creating a more conducive investment climate.
He emphasized that industrial development, investment, and export growth are vital pillars of Punjab's economic progress. The private sector plays a crucial role in investment, production, job creation, and export promotion; thus, effective collaboration between the government and the business community is essential to achieve economic goals.
The Finance Minister added that the Sharif-led government is committed to providing new opportunities for youth and entrepreneurs while promoting industry and trade. By offering financial support, simplification of procedures, and a supportive business environment, the government aims to encourage the establishment of new ventures and facilitate the expansion of existing businesses.
Mian Mujtaba recognized the pivotal role played by the business community in Pakistan's economic development. Industrialists, traders, investors, and business enterprises are contributing significantly to strengthening the nation's economy.
