Egypt, Oman FMs Discuss Efforts To Ease Regional Tensions
Egypt and Oman's Foreign Ministers held a telephone conversation on September 5, 2026, to discuss regional tensions, the resumption of US-Iran negotiations, and the protection of maritime navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.
According to the Egyptian Foreign Ministry, the ministers exchanged views on recent developments and diplomatic efforts to promote calm and stability in the region during their call.
Badr Abdelatty called for an end to the ongoing escalation and urged all sides to avoid actions that could intensify tensions and jeopardize regional security. The conversation also addressed the situation in the Strait of Hormuz and its impact on regional security and global economic flows.
Both ministers emphasized the necessity of safeguarding maritime navigation through the vital waterway and maintaining the uninterrupted movement of international trade and energy supplies.
