Sacrifices Of Martyrs Guiding Light For Generations: President

ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 5th Sep, 2026) President Asif Ali Zardari stated that on behalf of the entire nation, he salutes the martyrs and veterans of Pakistan’s Armed Forces and their families. Through their blood and sacrifice, the martyrs have etched timeless stories of courage and patriotism in the national history, and their sacrifices will forever serve as a guiding light for generations to come.

In a message on Defence and Martyrs Day observed on September 6, he emphasized:

"September 6 holds a significant place in our national consciousness, reminding us of the immense sacrifices made to safeguard our freedom, sovereignty, and national security. Defence and Martyrs’ Day offers us a chance to honor the immortal sacrifices of the brave sons of the nation who, during the 1965 war, demonstrated unparalleled resolve, courage, and devotion in defending our beloved homeland, thwarting the enemy's sinister plans on every front."

He further added that:

"The unity and faith displayed by our Armed Forces and the Pakistani nation on September 6, 1965, serve as a manifestation of our collective strength. This day serves as a reminder that when a nation stands united in defence of its freedom, sovereignty, and homeland, no power can withstand its determination."

The President noted the success of Operation Bunyanum Marsoos:

"The spirit of September 6th was once again evident in the resounding triumph of Operation Bunyanum Marsoos. The victory at Marka-e-Haq is another glorious chapter added to our national history. This exceptional success attests to the professionalism, courage, and bravery of our Armed Forces, reflecting the exemplary bond between them and the people of Pakistan."

Pakistan, as a peaceful and responsible state, remains dedicated to promoting peace, dialogue, and mutual respect in the region and globally. The Makkah Joint Defence Agreement is a testament to Pakistan's commitment to regional security and its growing role as a reliable partner for peace and stability.

He highlighted the need for unwavering determination:

"At the same time, no compromise can be made on Pakistan’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national security. The international community must recognize that lasting peace in South Asia cannot be attained without resolving the Kashmir issue according to UN Security Council resolutions and the aspirations of the people of Kashmir.
