England Women's Manager Sarina Wiegman Signs Contract Extension

BBC Sport reports that England women's manager Sarina Wiegman has extended her contract by two years, until the end of Euro 2029.

Wiegman, who has been in charge for over five years, guided England to their second consecutive European Championship title with victory over Spain in the 2025 final, becoming the first England team—men's or women's—to win a major trophy abroad.

"I am so happy to be able to carry on with this squad and cannot think of a better job in football," said Wiegman, expressing her enthusiasm for continuing her work with the team.

The extension comes after England qualified for the World Cup play-offs, facing Ukraine in a two-legged tie to secure their place at the 2023 World Cup in Brazil.

Wiegman's successful tenure includes leading England to their first major trophy at Euro 2022 and reaching the 2023 World Cup final. Her achievements make her the second manager, after Germany's Christina Theune, to win three consecutive European Championships.

FA Chief Mark Bullingham praised Wiegman as an "incredible coach with an unparalleled record in major tournaments" and expressed confidence in her leadership through the upcoming tournaments.
