Environmental Agency Demolishes 79 Kilns in Violation of Laws: 29 Sealed
Punjab Environmental Protection Agency has intensified its actions against environmental polluters. During the past month, significant measures were taken against brick kilns, industrial units, plastic users, construction sites, and entities discharging contaminated water.
Key Findings:
- Brick Kilns: 5,223 inspections conducted, leading to the demolition of 79 kilns and sealing of 29. 45 cases were registered against owners, with a fine of Rs. 5.15 million imposed.
- Industrial Units: 2,392 units checked, resulting in the demolition of 26 and sealing of 96. A fine of Rs 95.72 million was levied for violations.
- Plastic Laws: 37,433 kilograms of banned plastic seized in a month. 407 places sealed, and 5 cases registered. A fine of Rs 26.32 million was also imposed.
- Construction Dust: 228 under-construction sites checked, with 135 notices issued, 45 sealed, and mist sprinklers installed at 30 locations.
- Water Pollution: 45 sites checked, 6 notices issued, and two sealed.
The Punjab Environmental Protection Agency has made it clear that no concessions will be made to those violating environmental laws.
