EU Sends Boats To English Channel To Help Tackle 'Migration Crisis'
The European Union's border agency, Frontex, will deploy boats into the English Channel and North Sea to assist in migrant rescue operations, according to officials. This initiative comes in the wake of discussions between France and Britain's leaders on migration.
Starting in September to October, two Spanish boats will be sent out, followed by one from Lithuania up to January, to join French patrols. The English Channel, a major shipping lane, has witnessed numerous migrant deaths due to strong currents and overloaded boats arranged by human traffickers.
