The Pakistani government has devised a plan to prevent supporters of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) from traveling from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to Islamabad, involving the construction of trenches along key highways. According to media sources, these trenches will be dug on the GT Road and several other routes leading into the capital.

Digging and Barriers:

Work has commenced on digging trenches at strategic locations such as:

  • 26 Number Chungi
  • Pirudhayi
  • IGP Road
  • Aswal Road
  • Katti Pahari

Additionally, barriers will be erected along routes connecting Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with Islamabad. Laborers have been enlisted to facilitate this effort, and bags of soil are being collected for placement in containers.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Minister's Response:

In response to these developments, Shafi Jan, the Information Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, took to X, criticizing federal minister Mohsin Naqvi for utilizing the funerals of martyrs as a political tool. He deemed it regrettable to politicize such solemn occasions and urged federal ministers to respect citizens' fundamental rights guaranteed by the Constitution.

Challenging Federal Government:

Jan questioned the absence of a comprehensive plan for economic stability, suggesting that the federal government was more focused on intimidating PTI rather than addressing pressing economic issues. He emphasized that PTI would not be deterred by threats and reminded the "Form 47 government" of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's longstanding struggle against governmental oppression.

Noting Islamabad's transformation into a "container city," Jan suggested that federal authorities were overly concerned about the impending long march. He affirmed PTI's commitment to upholding its constitutional rights and participation in the protest on September 27, stating it could not be stopped through threats.

Abduction Incident:

In another post, Shafi Jan condemned the alleged abduction of Provincial Minister Fazal Shakoor Khan from Peshawar by unknown assailants, describing it as an assault on the Constitution, law, democracy, and public mandate.
