Manchester City gave £185m worth of talent signed on transfer deadline day their Premier League debuts in the 1-0 victory over Coventry, with manager Enzo Maresca happy with what he saw.

Midfielder Enzo Fernandez, initially named as a substitute, made a late appearance in the starting XI after Nico O'Reilly sustained a knock in the warm-up. £60m Iliman Ndiaye also started. Both players had limited time to train with their new team-mates before playing.

Maresca, who knows Fernandez from his time at Chelsea, praised their performances:

"It is much more easier when a player you already share time together [joins] because they know exactly what you want."

City maintained their 100% start to the season with Haaland's winner, despite a nervy performance. Fernandez played a key role, while Ndiaye showed off his trickery and pace.

Fernandez had a couple of early shots blocked but was replaced after 76 minutes by Ayyoub Bouaddi, part of City's revamped midfield. Ndiaye became the first Senegalese player for the club.

Maresca highlighted:

"Enzo and Iliman [played their] first game with us... They were all good."
