Finance Minister Chairs ECC Meeting, Approves Summaries Submit By Divisions

The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet met here on Monday at Finance Division under the Chair of Minister for Finance and Revenue, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb.

ECC Considerations:

  • Purchase of Bullet-Proof Vehicles: The ECC discussed a summary from the Cabinet Division seeking approval for a TSG (Technical Support Grant) of Rs. 12.6 billion to purchase bullet-proof vehicles for use during the SCO Summit in September 2027. After deliberation, they approved a TSG of Rs. 6.6 billion for 30 bullet-proof vehicles and requested further requirements from the Cabinet Division.

  • Minimum Indicative Prices (MIPs) of Tobacco Crop: The ECC reviewed a summary from the Ministry of National Food Security and Research regarding MIPs and cess rates revision for FY 2026-27. Due to lack of justification, they deferred this agenda and asked for a resubmitted proposal with detailed analysis.

  • Donkey Meat and Hides Export: The ECC approved the Ministry of National Food Security and Research’s recommendations to resolve issues related to donkey meat and hides export from Gwadar Free Zone.

  • Gas Supply Extension: They also approved continuing gas supply to FatimaFert and Agritech until September 30, 2026, under the existing arrangement.

  • Daanish Schools Authority Fund: The ECC backed the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training’s proposal to provide Rs. 5.00 billion as seed money for the Daanish Schools Authority Fund through a TSG, following an endowment framework.

  • Pakistan Skills Impact Bond (PSIB): The meeting extended the deadline for the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training to share progress on PSIB until September 30.
