Financial Assistance Launched Under Ehsas Umeed Program
PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 28th Aug, 2026) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has formally launched financial assistance for deserving special persons under its flagship Ehsaas Umeed Program.
The program was formally inaugurated by Advisor to Chief Minister for Social Welfare, Special Education and Women Empowerment, Malak Liaqat Ali Khan at a ceremony held at the Hayatabad Special Education Complex here on Friday.
Secretary Social Welfare Sharif Hussain, Parliamentary Secretary Azam Khan, Additional Secretary Zakat & Ushr Habibullah, Chairman Zakat Imtiaz Khan and other officials also attended the ceremony.
Ehsaas Umeed Program Details:
Under Ehsaas Umeed Program, a target has been set to provide Rs. 5,000 monthly financial assistance to 10,000 deserving special persons across KP.
Malak Liaqat Ali Khan, CM advisor, stated that the entire process of identification and financial assistance for deserving special persons has been made:
- Transparent
- Merit-based
- Linked with a modern digital system.
He further elaborated on the selection process:
- Data collection: Social welfare Department obtained data of 52,000 special persons through the e-Disability System.
- Poverty assessment: Poverty scores of deserving individuals were determined through an IT system based on comprehensive socio-economic indicators.
- Local committee involvement: The socio-economic assessment of special persons across the province was completed through 4,400 local Zakat Committees.
- Final selection: A total of 9,298 special persons have been selected to receive financial assistance.
