Emma Finucane expressed her determination to win gold medals after a string of close calls at the Track Cycling World Championships, where she secured three medals, including bronze in the keirin.

The 23-year-old finished a close third in the keirin, behind neutral athlete Alina Lysenko and Lea Friedrich of Germany. Her time was just 14 thousandths of a second off the top spot.

Finucane's achievements included silver medals in the team sprint and individual sprint, both won by Chinese cyclists.

Her reaction:

"To medal in all three races at the world champs, I'd never done that before. The confidence I have gained this week... I can take that into the years to come. I'm actually really proud. I am frustrated not to be on the top step but I'll come back fighting."

Focus on the Olympics:

Finucane, part of Great Britain's gold medal-winning team sprint trio at the Paris Olympics, aims to retain that title in Los Angeles in 2028. She highlighted the strength in depth within the British team as a driving force for success.

"We won the team sprint in Paris which is one of the best moments of my life and there are 10 girls back at home fighting to be in the team. That's how we progress, and we will build on the momentum of this silver medal."

Great Britain topped the medal table at the championships with 12 medals, including a hat-trick of golds for Anna Morris.
