First Phase of The PML-N Led Popularly-elected AJK Govt' Cabinet Completes
MIRPUR (AJK) (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point news - 4th Sep, 2026) An 08 member cabinet of the newly elected PML-N, (AJK Chapter), Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) government has taken oath of office in the State's metropolis Muzaffarabad, completing the first phase of formation of the cabinet on Friday.
APP AJK Correspondent reports from Mirpur that the oath-taking ceremony was held at the Aiwan-e-Sadr in the State's capital where Acting AJK President Chaudhry Tariq Farooq administered the oath to the newly appointed ministers.
Those who took oath as ministers included Sardar Amir Akbar Khan, Chaudhry Azhar Sadiq, Dr Mustafa Bashir, Colonel R Waqar Noor, Raja Saqib Majid, Umair Naeem, Raja Riyasat and Abdul Rehman Arain.
The AJK government had, earlier, issued a formal notification regarding the appointment of the new cabinet members. According to the notification, the eight ministers were inducted into the cabinet with the approval of the AJK prime minister Iftikhar Gilani.
Following the ceremony, the new cabinet formally assumed its responsibilities and started functioning. The government is expected to allocate portfolios to the newly inducted ministers shortly.
