First Winter Snowfall Covers Upper Chitral As Temperatures Drop
The upper areas of Chitral have received the first snowfall of the winter season, leading to a significant drop in temperatures and intensifying cold conditions in mountainous regions. According to local administration, snowfall was recorded in Shandur Top, Khot, Broghil, Madaklasht, and several other high-altitude locations on Monday.
The Meteorological Department predicts intermittent snowfall in upper Chitral over the next one to two days, with further temperature drops anticipated. This change in weather might disrupt daily activities and create challenges for residents, especially in remote areas. Travelling to higher-altitude locations could also become difficult due to snowfall.
Residents have been advised to prepare for the winter by arranging warm clothing, fuel, and other essential supplies. Tourists and travellers are recommended to check weather forecasts and road conditions before embarking on journeys to upper areas and to avoid unnecessary trips during snowfall.
With this first snowfall, winter has officially begun in Chitral's mountainous regions, and more snowfall is expected in the coming days.
