The tensions in the Middle East have disrupted oil production and transportation, leading to a significant surge in car and jet fuel prices, which are derived from oil. This has resulted in higher costs for airlines, as seen in Virgin Atlantic's addition of a fuel surcharge to ticket prices in May.
