Food Department Steps Up Market Inspections to Ensure Subsidized Flour Supply in DI Khan
The Food Department has ensured the availability of government-subsidized flour in sufficient quantities across Dera Ismail Khan under the ongoing Wheat Release Operation 2026, with approved dealers and designated sale points supplying flour to consumers at the officially notified price.
According to the Food Department, field staff are conducting regular inspections of markets and authorized dealers to monitor the availability, sale, and distribution of government flour, guaranteeing that consumers receive the commodity at the prescribed rate.
As part of the inspection drive, Assistant Food Controller (HQ) Khaliq Ur Rehman inspected various markets and checked the availability and sale of government flour on the instructions of District Food Controller Dera Ismail Khan Muhammad Azam Khan. During the inspections, the following were verified:
- Availability of government flour at approved outlets
- Display of prescribed banners
- Compliance with the official price
The authorized dealers have been directed to ensure uninterrupted availability of government flour and provide the 20-kilogram flour bag at the fixed price of Rs2,520 to the general public.
Food Department officials also checked whether the designated dealers were complying with the prescribed mechanism for the transparent and fair distribution of flour among consumers.
They stated that the ongoing inspection and monitoring process aimed to:
- Prevent shortages
- Stop profiteering and hoarding
- Ensure the public easily obtains the commodity at the notified price
The department has directed all approved dealers to:
- Maintain adequate stocks
- Prominently display the prescribed price and other relevant information
- Strictly adhere to the government’s instructions regarding the sale and distribution of subsidized flour.
The Food Department assured that its field staff would continue market inspections and monitoring of authorized dealers to ensure the effective implementation of the Wheat Release Operation 2026 and safeguard the interests of consumers.
The initiative is in line with the provincial government’s efforts to maintain a smooth supply of essential food commodities and provide relief to the public through regulated prices.
