GILGIT, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 1st Sep, 2026) The Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) government formally released the findings of the GB Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey (GB MICS) 2024-25 on Tuesday. With this launch, GB became the first region in the world to disseminate the Seventh Round of MICS (MICS-7) results.
Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly Speaker Imran Nadeem, addressing the event, emphasized the significance of accurate data in regional governance. He stated that reliable data is crucial for evidence-based planning, effective public administration, and equitable resource allocation.
Nadeem officially inaugurated the newly developed MICS Digital Application, created by the Statistical and Research Cell of the Planning and Development Department. He noted that the digital platform enables seamless access to survey data, aiding policy formulation, program monitoring, and strategic decision-making.
The survey, a comprehensive household study, assesses 195 indicators, including 35 Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) targets. It covers key areas such as:
- Education
- Health
- Nutrition
- Water
- Sanitation
- Hygiene
- Climate change
- Living conditions of women, children, and households
Based on the initial survey conducted in 2016-17, the report tracks seven years of progress while identifying remaining developmental gaps.
The ceremony was attended by prominent cabinet members and officials, including:
- Planning and Development Minister Syed Jalal Ali Shah
- Local Government Minister Zulfiqar Ali Murad
- Interior Minister Muhammad Dilpazeer
- Additional Chief Secretary (Development) Riaz Ahmed
Representing UNICEF Pakistan, Data and Analytics Manager Achraf Mohamed Mrabet highlighted the strong technical and financial partnership with the GB government throughout the survey process, emphasizing the importance of policy-relevant data.
Faisal Usman, Deputy Chief of the Statistical and Research Cell and Project Director for the survey, presented core findings during the event. The event concluded with the presentation of commemorative shields to key stakeholders, with officials reaffirming that the survey findings will guide future public investments and welfare policies in the region.
