Gomal University Launches Data Centre and 1LINK Fee Payment Service
Gomal University has taken a significant step towards digitalisation with the launch of a central data centre and 1LINK online fee payment service. This initiative, celebrated on Tuesday, aims to modernise administrative systems and enhance services for students and employees.
Acting Vice Chancellor, Prof Dr Niamatullah Babar, officially inaugurated the Gomal Data Centre and 1LINK service at the university’s Directorate of IT. The event was attended by Registrar Imranullah Marwat, deans of various faculties, Controller of Examinations, Director IT Dr Muhammad Ejaz Khan, and other officials.
Dr Babar highlighted the importance of the data centre as a step towards implementing one-window services. He explained that the centre will organise and secure data from different departments through an integrated system, making it easily accessible when needed.
He further emphasised the benefits of the modern data management system, which include:
- Streamlined administrative affairs
- Improved decision-making and access to information
- Enhanced overall institutional performance
The acting vice chancellor also announced the introduction of biometric attendance for employees starting September 1st. This system will bring transparency to attendance, promote punctuality, and improve administrative discipline.
Dr Babar praised Director IT Dr Muhammad Ejaz Khan and his team for their efforts in completing these digital initiatives. He emphasized the necessity of effectively utilising technology to align the university with modern requirements and provide better services.
The launch of the data centre, 1LINK service, and biometric attendance system is considered a significant milestone in the university’s journey towards becoming an integrated, transparent, and digitally-enabled institution.
