Assembly members aspiring to become chief minister should keep their CVs in their pockets, as Sohail Afridi will remain Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister, Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar said in a media talk.

PTI and Government Exchanges

Barrister Gohar stated that while there were ongoing exchanges with the government, no substantive matter had been discussed. He emphasized that the October 4 long march is the party’s final political decision and will be carried out as scheduled.

Rejection of Emergency Speculation

He categorically rejected speculation about the imposition of emergency or governor’s rule in the country, affirming that there are no emergency-like conditions and emergency should never be imposed under any circumstances.

Peaceful Long March

The PTI leader clarified that the long march would be completely political and peaceful, and they have no intention to attack any institution or government.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister

Barrister Gohar confirmed that Sohail Afridi will remain in office as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister for now, asking aspiring chief ministers to keep their CVs at bay.

Internal Party Matters

He addressed internal party differences and Shaukat Yousafzai’s letter, stating that the latter had sent him the letter via WhatsApp, making it a personal matter between them. Barrister Gohar expressed that PTI is a fully democratic party where every leader has the right to express their opinion, adding that they value Shaukat Yousafzai’s views and he remains the party’s provincial information secretary.

Communication with National Assembly Speaker

Discussing his recent communication, Barrister Gohar mentioned a phone call with the National Assembly speaker the previous day, but noted that there was no opportunity for a meeting on that day due to scheduling conflicts. He stressed the importance of a meeting between the opposition leader and the prime minister, a constitutional matter that should definitely take place. Rana Sanaullah’s presence at such a meeting, he added, would depend entirely on Mahmood Khan Achakzai’s decision.
