Government Issues New Directives on Petrol Subsidy Scheme

Motorcyclists will receive a weekly five-litre subsidy token, while car owners will get a 10-litre token every 10 days; old cars and motorcycles are also eligible, and registration need not be in the applicant’s name, according to Federal Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja.
Details of the Scheme:
- Motorcyclists: Weekly five-litre subsidy token.
- Car Owners: 10-litre token every 10 days.
Old Vehicles Eligible:
- 15-year-old motorcycles
- 20-year-old cars
Challenges and Concerns:
The Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association (PPDA) has raised serious reservations and concerns about the scheme, highlighting administrative flaws and practical difficulties in implementing the Fuel Relief Scheme, especially regarding the identification and verification process at petrol pumps.
PPDA’s Response:
The PPDA has called an emergency meeting for petroleum dealers across the country to discuss the technical aspects, administrative procedures, and potential challenges of the scheme.
