Present on the occasion were:
- President of the Local Government Reporters Association, Sulaiman Saadat Khan, and other office-bearers.

Speaking to the media, Governor Hashmi highlighted the severe consequences of climate change on businesses, land, crops, and human health. He stressed that global warnings about climate change should be taken seriously and actions should be taken to address them effectively.
Noting Pakistan's predominantly agricultural nature, he emphasized the need for increased focus on the agriculture sector. Governor Hashmi pointed out that tree plantation is not only environmentally beneficial but also encouraged in Islam. The Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) had advocated for tree plantation and its advantages.
He observed a growing global recognition of the importance of tree plantation and environmental conservation for human survival. Trees and forests, he said, protect the environment while providing habitats for birds, animals, and other creatures. He called for more emphasis on promoting urban and rural forests and protecting existing forests.
Regarding Karachi and other parts of Sindh, Governor Hashmi stressed that environmental improvement should go hand in hand with reforms in the local government system. All stakeholders, he added, need to work together for the betterment of Karachi, fostering effective collaboration between them.
He identified several priority areas, including:
- Improving the sewerage system.
- Ensuring better water distribution.
- Rehabilitating neglected parks.
He also pledged to strengthen coordination with the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation and relevant environmental protection institutions.
Governor Hashmi called for developing more parks in Karachi where children, women, and senior citizens can enjoy a safe and healthy environment. He further noted the city's move towards science and IT parks and expressed his commitment to establishing modern parks in Karachi.
He acknowledged the efforts of the Governor House team, including Dr. Syed Saif-ur-Rehman, Colonel Sikandar, and Faisal Farooqi, as well as relevant institutions, in working towards creating modern and people-friendly parks in the city.
Governor Hashmi emphasized that environmental improvement should be a shared national responsibility, involving every individual, not just the government, to ensure its success across Sindh's cities and rural areas. He also touched on the importance of transparency in these endeavors.
