Governor Punjab Sardar Saleem Haider Khan on Date Farmers
LAHORE, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 7th Sep, 2026) Governor Punjab Sardar Saleem Haider Khan has emphasized that the government should support date-cultivating farmers, highlighting the potential for earning precious foreign exchange for the country.
Speaking at the Dates Festival hosted by the Organic Village DHA on Monday, he praised the diversity of dates displayed, with over 100 varieties on show. The Governor visited various stalls showcasing dates grown locally. A large number of citizens, including overseas Pakistanis, attended the event.
Sardar Saleem Haider Khan stated that Pakistan is a leading producer of dates, boasting a wide range of high-quality varieties. He noted that proper packaging and export strategies could significantly enhance their global marketability. The Governor emphasized that Pakistani dates are renowned for their exceptional taste and called for increased investment in the sector through exports.
He suggested that local date production can be improved with focused governmental attention and encouraged citizens to contribute to national development. "Instead of relying on others, we should take responsibility for our country’s progress," he stated. The Governor also reaffirmed the PPP’s commitment to supporting farmers at all levels, calling for concrete government actions to address their challenges.
He urged overseas Pakistanis to purchase locally produced goods.
