Governor Says More Public, Private Hospitals Needed to Meet Growing Healthcare Demand

PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 27th Sep, 2026)

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi on Sunday stated that the increasing strain on existing hospitals due to limited healthcare infrastructure and insufficient expansion in the public health sector highlights the necessity for establishing more public and private hospitals across the province.

Addressing the inauguration ceremony of Elite Care General Hospital in Hayatabad, the Governor formally opened the facility and congratulated its management. He expressed appreciation for investors in the private healthcare sector, considering the establishment of a new private hospital as a positive development that would enhance access to quality medical services and create employment opportunities.

The Governor noted that the province's growing population necessitates the construction of additional hospitals, especially in remote districts, and emphasized that private sector investment in healthcare could effectively complement government efforts.

In conversations with the media later, Kundi stated that the current law and order situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa does not justify any march on Islamabad, emphasizing that political forces should unite to restore peace in the province. He added that the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) is always open to dialogue for promoting peace and tackling the province's development and financial challenges in collaboration with the provincial government.

The Governor further pointed out that both Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa face security challenges, requiring collective efforts beyond political differences to ensure peace, development, and the resolution of public issues.

In response to a question, Kundi clarified that any resignation received by the Governor House through the prescribed legal procedure would be accepted in accordance with the law.
