Govt Making All-out Efforts to Protect Public from Economic Impact of War: Ali Pervaiz
Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik has stated that the government is dedicating all its resources to safeguard the public, especially vulnerable segments, from the economic consequences of the ongoing war and rising petroleum prices.
According to a spokesperson, he revealed that the government has relieved motorcyclists of the increased fuel prices by Rs 100 per litre, benefiting approximately nine million individuals, and will continue this aid as long as feasible.
Malik emphasized the challenges faced by the public due to petroleum price hikes, attributing Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's full awareness of these issues. He explained that the government has not shifted the entire burden onto the people, only adjusting prices to meet the current situation's requirements.
The minister asserted the government's responsibility to support society's weaker members during difficult times, promising continued efforts to minimize the crisis's impact on the populace.
Regarding the ongoing war, Malik stated that Pakistan is closely monitoring the region's volatile situation. He expressed Pakistan's solidarity with Saudi Arabia and condemned attacks on its facilities. The federal minister, assigned by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to visit Riyadh, aims to convey Pakistan's support and thank the Saudi leadership for their collaboration.
Malik highlighted Pakistan's dual challenges, including terrorism resurgence in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and urged political parties to unite for the nation's protection. He prioritized national security and stability above political differences, emphasizing the need for collective action.
The petroleum minister affirmed the government's commitment to diplomatic and other initiatives for a permanent ceasefire and regional peace, assuring that Pakistan will defend its national interests and people at all costs.
