Govt to Vacate Occupied Land in Sub-sector G-14/1; Senate Told
ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th Aug, 2026) The occupied land of sub-sector G-14/1 will be fully vacated once the issues involving affected persons and built-up properties are resolved, Mian Riaz Hussain Pirzada, Minister for Housing and Works, told the Senate on Tuesday.
Replying to a question from Senator Syed Masroor Ahsan, the minister stated that the Federal Government Employees Housing Authority (FGEHA) is actively pursuing the matter through negotiations and lawful measures while protecting the rights of all bona fide allottees.
In his written reply, he informed that out of 580 legal built-up properties (BUPs), 419 cases have been finalized and awards announced. Compensation has been paid for 199 structures, which have since been demolished.
The remaining owners of 161 BUPs have not permitted the mandatory assessment required for award issuance, leading to further negotiations and compensation payment after formalities.
The minister explained that the tender for development works in sub-sector G-14/1 was initially floated in June 2023 but annulled in November 2023 due to land non-possession. It was floated again in August 2024, but rejected due to excessively high rates. New tender documents are being prepared under PPRA rules.
The minister attributed the delay in vacating the land to the presence of 549 illegal structures and pending litigation, among other factors. Some affectees refuse compensation and vacate, while unresolved encroachment issues also hinder the process.
