Greek Ambassador Stresses Private Sector Role in Expanding Bilateral Economic Ties

Greek Ambassador Eleni Porichi stressed the importance of the private sector in strengthening economic ties between Greece and Pakistan during a meeting with Faheem-ur-Rehman Saigol, President of Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), on September 04, 2026. She emphasized that both nations possess significant potential to expand trade and cooperation, particularly in business-to-business engagement, tourism, skilled manpower, agriculture, renewable energy, and emerging sectors.

Porichi noted that diplomatic missions could facilitate trade delegations and business exchanges, but the initiative should stem from businesses identifying concrete opportunities. She highlighted the strong presence of the Pakistani community in Greece, especially from Punjab, and the recurring demand for Pakistani workers in various sectors, including agriculture and skilled professions.

Saigol, LCCI President, proposed promoting structured B2B meetings and business delegations to foster joint ventures and trade avenues between Pakistan and Greece. He emphasized the potential for cooperation in agriculture, mining, tourism, and renewable energy, suggesting that Greek expertise and experience could benefit Pakistani businesses.

The meeting concluded with a focus on diversifying trade beyond textiles, exploring opportunities in tourism, and strengthening cultural ties.
