Guinea rubbish landfill collapse kills 30

At least 30 people have been confirmed dead after a mound of rubbish at a major waste site collapsed on nearby homes in Guinea's capital, Conakry, according to the government. Another 22 individuals were injured, six critically, in the city's Dar-es-Salam area.
"Significant" resources and personnel, including military forces, have been deployed for search and rescue operations following the collapse around 02:00 local time after heavy overnight rain.
One woman reported to local media that her five children had perished in the disaster. The death toll is expected to rise.
Rescuers later employed excavators to sift through a mountain of scattered debris at the site as onlookers gathered nearby. Guinea's Prime Minister Mamadou Oury Bah visited the scene to assess the situation and supervise rescue efforts.
Neighbourhood leader Lancine Sylla expressed his concern over a potential high death toll to AFP news agency:
"We have retrieved 18 bodies that were taken to the morgue."
A previous landslide at the same site in 2017 claimed the lives of 10 people.
