Muhammad Zubair Umar, economic spokesperson for Tehreek Tahafuz Aain Pakistan, shared a conversation where Hafizullah Niazi posed a crucial question:
How long would the current system in Pakistan endure?
He was told it would persist until 2035, prompting Niazi to follow up with: And what about 2036? This left the room silent, as Zubair points out, the system is unique in that it revolves around a single individual.
Zubair attributes this to Pakistan's "educated intellectuals" who, he argues, have no understanding of these issues and constantly propose new systems every decade. He uses this as a lens to critique the country's leadership, comparing it to Iran, China, Saudi Arabia, and Western nations where the same system continues without such dramatic shifts.
He concludes that the system's fragility lies in its reliance on a single person, and calls out the hypocrisy of leaders like Ayub Khan, Musharraf, and General Zia, who sought to strengthen their power through this very system.
