Hamilton and Leclerc ‘squash’ Monza controversy

Spanish Grand Prix: Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc Resolve Monza Controversy

BBC Sport reports that Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc have put their recent Monza controversy behind them.

Hamilton’s Perspective

Hamilton states that he and Leclerc have "squashed" any lingering issues after a challenging Italian Grand Prix. Despite Leclerc forcing Hamilton into the gravel and subsequent crashes, the seven-time champion highlights their open and honest discussion, which resolved the matter.

"We sat face to face, just him and I, and talked about it. We were just both open and honest, and we squashed it. We can move on." – Hamilton

Leclerc’s Take

Leclerc agrees that the incident was a misstep and acknowledges the need for improvement in team dynamics. He emphasizes that their relationship remains strong and will not be affected by similar situations in the future.

"It’s kind of clear that we never want to see a car of the same team in the grass… After reviewing, we spoke with Lewis… It definitely did not affect the good relationship that we have." – Leclerc

Team Dynamics and Moving Forward

Hamilton recognizes the need for Ferrari to enhance their operations, especially after recent qualifying issues. He expresses hope for improved team collaboration, aiming for better results and podiums instead of individual struggles.

"It’s a longer term process… There’s a huge amount of moving parts… There’s a lot of things we can change and improve." – Hamilton
