The reason for this hatred is the destruction of the economy. Such a lie can be told only that it lasts a few hours; over there they say load shedding has ended, but 15 minutes later the lights go off—now it’s the age of social media, and claims cannot be concealed, the PPP senator said at an event.

Pakistan Peoples Party Senator Muhammad Talha Mahmood has said that hatred of the incumbent government among some people is driving their support for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, while the main reason for this resentment is the country’s economic situation.

Addressing a ceremony, Talha Mahmood criticised the government, saying claims were being made before the public that did not even last a few hours.

He said:

government representatives announced that load-shedding had ended, but the electricity went out shortly afterward.

The Pakistan Peoples Party senator said that in the present era of social media, it was no longer possible to conceal facts for long.

He added:

immediately after any claim, people share their experiences and the situation on the ground through social media.

Talha Mahmood said political parties and governments should focus on public issues and the economic situation, as people see and feel their everyday circumstances themselves.

He noted:

This is now an era of information, and the difference between government claims and ground realities could not remain hidden from the public.

According to him, this situation was among the reasons for the political reaction and support for different parties.
