A Statement by Qasim Khan
PTI founder Imran Khan’s nephew, Qasim Khan, shared details with the media outside Adiala Jail about the arrest of his aunts.
"When they did not return home, a picture of their vehicle was sent through the media to Aleema Khan’s son. He confirmed it belonged to her and was parked outside Mozang Police Station."
The Arrest
According to Qasim Khan, their family discovered their detention orders around 2:00-2:30, stating they were held for 30 days under the Maintenance of Public Order (3-MPO) law. They initially did not know which police station they were being held at.
At 6:00, police began surrounding both Aleema and Uzma Khan's homes, with a larger presence by 8:00 that night. Around 1:30 AM, a sudden commotion occurred when Shareez, the son of Aleema Khan, emerged from his room to find approximately 100 police officers, including female police, surrounding their homes.
The Police Action
The police informed them that they had come to arrest Uzma Khan and Noreen Niazi. Meanwhile, in Ahore, a list was prepared of 32 vehicles and 41 workers allegedly involved in violating Section 144 during Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi’s arrival.
Police sources revealed that arrests are planned for these workers after documenting their activities from September 14-16. The list allegedly includes individuals who facilitated a rally, held corner meetings, and plotted an Islamabad sit-in on September 27 despite the imposed Section 144.
32 vehicles belonging to PTI workers are also believed to have been used to violate Section 144, leading to potential vehicle impoundment.
