Europe’s Charley Hull and Lottie Woad will take on the American duo of Nelly Korda and Allisen Corpuz in the opening match of the Solheim Cup in the Netherlands on Friday.
While Woad and Hull are ranked seventh and eighth respectively, Korda and Corpuz have won all four of their previous foursomes matches across the past two editions of the competition. This includes a victory over Hull and Esther Henseleit in 2024.
"Charley and Lottie, they’ve got to play [together] quite a bit on tour this year, so I think they were both very excited to be paired with each other," said Europe’s captain, Anna Nordqvist.
US captain Angela Stanford added: "If I didn’t put those two out [Korda and Corpuz], I would be questioned. I feel like the whole world knew that they were coming."
She continued, highlighting Allisen Corpuz as "the backbone of our team… pretty tough."
Play begins at 06:40 BST with four foursomes (alternate shot) matches:
- Nanna Koerstz Madsen (Denmark) and Celine Boutier (France) vs Alison Lee (US) and Lauren Coughlin (US)
- Henseleit (Germany) and Leona Maguire (Ireland) vs Andrea Lee (US) and Lindy Duncan (US, debutant)
- Maja Stark (Sweden) and Linn Grant (Sweden) vs Rose Zhang (US) and Jennifer Kupcho (US)
Europe are aiming to regain the trophy after their 15½-12½ loss to the United States in Virginia two years ago.
