ICT Admin Monitors Rainfall, Launches Drainage Operations Across City
ISLAMABAD, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 23rd Aug, 2026)
Heavy rainfall continued across several parts of the capital from late night, prompting the district administration to maintain round-the-clock monitoring and response efforts.
Officials said drainage operations were underway in different areas with the support of dewatering pumps, while field teams remained active to prevent water accumulation and keep traffic moving on major roads.
The Islamabad district administration said it has been closely monitoring the situation since the start of the rain. Water removal operations were launched in various localities to ensure that rainwater does not collect in low-lying areas.
Meanwhile, Assistant Commissioners visited different parts of the capital, including vulnerable locations and drainage channels, to review conditions on the ground. The administration said field officers were directed to remain present in affected areas and respond quickly to any issue related to rainwater accumulation.
Authorities are also working in coordination with Islamabad Traffic Police to maintain the flow of traffic on highways and key roads. The administration said efforts are focused on reducing disruptions and ensuring safe movement for commuters during the rainfall.
Officials noted that anti-encroachment operations were being carried out regularly in different areas as part of monsoon preparedness measures. These actions are aimed at removing obstacles that may block the natural flow of rainwater and contribute to urban flooding.
The district administration further stated that cleaning of drainage channels was completed before the start of the monsoon season. The work was undertaken to improve water flow and reduce the risk of flooding during periods of heavy rain.
To address complaints related to standing water, a dedicated control room has also been established. Citizens have been asked to report any location where rainwater has accumulated so that response teams can be dispatched without delay.
The administration urged residents to contact the control room at 051-9108084 to report waterlogging and other rain-related concerns.
Officials also appealed to the public to avoid unnecessary

during periods of rainfall and to follow safety instructions issued by the authorities. The administration said all relevant departments remain on alert and will continue monitoring weather conditions and responding to public concerns as needed.
