ICT Police, HEC Join Hands to Shield Students From Drugs, Tobacco
ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 4th Sep, 2026) Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police and the Higher Education Commission (HEC) discussed a joint awareness drive against drug and tobacco use among students, with plans to hold seminars at educational institutions to educate young people about their harmful effects.
An official told APP on Friday that the Anti-Drugs and Tobacco Committee meeting was held under the HEC on the directions of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi. The meeting was attended by SP Industrial Area Zone Khalid Mehmood Awan, SHO Women Police Station, a law officer, and HEC officials.
The participants discussed measures to curb the growing trend of drug and tobacco use, particularly among the younger generation, and educate students about their harmful effects. They also discussed holding awareness seminars at educational institutions to help students understand the dangers associated with drugs and tobacco.
The meeting stressed close coordination among all concerned institutions to run an effective anti-drug awareness campaign. The participants said joint efforts were needed to protect children and young people from harmful activities and encourage them to focus on education and positive activities.
