IGP Reviews Security Situation Across Sindh

KARACHI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - August 24, 2026) Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh, Javed Alam Odho on Monday chaired a high-level meeting to review the overall law and order situation and security arrangements across the province.

The meeting, held at the Central Police Office, was attended in person by Additional Inspectors General of Karachi, Special Branch, Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) and Operations, as well as Deputy Inspectors General (DIGs) of Establishment, CTD, Special Protection Unit (SPU) and Special Branch. Assistant Inspectors General and Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) also participated. Zonal and divisional DIGs and district SSPs joined via video link.

Participants received a detailed briefing on the security situation in Karachi and other parts of Sindh. The meeting reviewed arrangements for Operation Nijat-e-Mehran, foreign nationals, Rabi-ul-Awwal gatherings, important events, and public religious gatherings.

Additional IGP Karachi stated that effective strategies and a comprehensive plan were being implemented to maintain law and order and curb crime in the city. He added that stringent security measures had been put in place for public events, gatherings, and religious congregations.

The IGP ordered enhanced snap checking, patrolling, and picketing across Karachi in view of upcoming public events. He directed officers to closely monitor suspicious activities and maintain the gains achieved through Operation Nijat-e-Mehran, focusing on criminal elements and their networks in riverine areas.

Javed Alam Odho emphasized stringent and indiscriminate action against those disrupting law and order. He directed police officers to remain vigilant until crime was fully eliminated, stressing that no negligence would be tolerated regarding the security of foreign nationals. The IGP also instructed officers to personally visit field locations, inspect security arrangements, implement timely corrective measures, and ensure proper briefings for subordinate staff while maintaining effective supervision of deployed personnel.
