IHC Moved for Judicial Commission to Probe PIMS Tragedy

ISLAMABAD, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – August 27, 2026) | A petition has been filed before the Islamabad High Court (IHC) seeking an inquiry into the PIMS tragedy through a judicial commission headed by a high court judge.

The petition, filed by Advocate Qasim Iqbal Jalali:

  • Requests orders for a forensic investigation into the incident.
  • Calls for a comprehensive audit of the fire alarm system at PIMS.
  • Seeks the constitution of a judicial commission comprising an IHC judge or the Sessions Judge (West) to investigate.

The petitioner argues that it’s a fundamental principle of justice that no person can act as both investigator and judge in their own matter.

The Federation, Secretary Interior, Secretary Health, Chief Commissioner, and Inspector General of Islamabad Police are made respondents in the petition.
