IHC Seeks Reports Regarding Action Against PIMS' ED
ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 31st Aug, 2026) The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday sought a report regarding the determination of responsibility and action taken against the Executive Director of Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) in connection with the deaths of newborns at the hospital.
Chief Justice of Islamabad High Court, Justice Sardar Muhammad Sarfraz Dogar, heard a petition filed by a citizen seeking action against the PIMS Executive Director over the incident. During the hearing, the petitioner’s counsel described the deaths as an extremely tragic event and urged the court to remove the Executive Director from his post and take appropriate action. They also requested that the officer’s services be withdrawn along with his removal.
The Chief Justice noted that the court could not direct the government to remove an officer from a post, adding that, to his understanding, the Executive Director PIMS had already been removed from his position.
However, the petitioner’s counsel submitted that although the officer had been removed, no responsibility had been fixed upon him and the inquiry report had not held him accountable.
Additional Attorney General Rashid Hafeez informed the court that the earlier submitted report was provisional and the complete inquiry report would be presented within five days.
The court subsequently sought a report regarding the determination of responsibility and action taken against the PIMS Executive Director, and adjourned the hearing.
