Indonesia–Pakistan Academic Youth Forum 2026: Strengthening Youth Diplomacy and Academic Cooperation

KARACHI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - September 4, 2026) Students and academics from Indonesia and Pakistan gathered at Iqra University, Karachi, for the Indonesia–Pakistan Academic Youth Forum 2026, fostering a vibrant exchange of ideas aimed at deepening mutual understanding and strengthening ties between the younger generations of the two nations.
Organized by the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia in Karachi in collaboration with Iqra University and Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY), the forum was held under the theme, "Celebrating Independence, Building the Future: The Role of Indonesian and Pakistani Youth in Bridging Friendship and Global Cooperation."
A Platform for Dialogue and Understanding
The event brought together young people and academics to discuss pertinent issues shaping their lives and future prospects. Conversations ranged from youth leadership and education to innovation, technology, and entrepreneurship. Participants shared insights on common societal challenges and explored ways in which young individuals could contribute to national development and prosperity.
Representing the Consulate General of Indonesia in Karachi, Consul for Information and Socio-Cultural Affairs, Ms. Dian Ratri Astuti, emphasized the growing importance of academic and youth diplomacy in an increasingly interconnected world. She highlighted that global challenges like rapid technological advancements, artificial intelligence, climate change, and economic uncertainties transcend national boundaries, underscoring the need for enhanced cooperation among young people.
Fostering Friendship and Collaboration
Beyond idea exchange, the forum celebrated the enduring friendship between Indonesia and Pakistan, demonstrating the potential of youth engagement to carry this relationship forward. It also provided an opportunity for students to forge connections and gain a broader perspective on their counterparts' experiences and aspirations.
The event further opened doors for closer institutional collaboration between UMY and Iqra University. Proposed areas of cooperation include student and faculty exchanges, joint seminars, collaborative research, guest lectures, and cultural programs, ensuring sustained academic and people-to-people engagement.
The forum served as not just an academic gathering but as a bridge between two young generations, showcasing how education, dialogue, and cultural understanding can contribute to stronger bilateral relations and global cooperation in addressing evolving challenges.
