England: Impossible for Three Lions to find another Harry Kane - Thomas Tuchel
BBC Sport journalist, Steve Sutcliffe, reports on Thomas Tuchel's comments regarding England's top striker, Harry Kane.
In the world of football, a legend in the making
"It will be impossible to find another Harry Kane," Tuchel stated.
Harry Kane continues to make history, scoring a record-extending 87th goal for England against the Czech Republic on Tuesday. He is now just two appearances away from equalling Peter Shilton's record of 125 international caps.
"He is the first one to push everyone and that is his mindset," Tuchel praised. "He is a complete package."
A search for succession
While Kane is in the form of his life, the 33-year-old forward's long-term successor remains uncertain. Tuchel acknowledged the challenge of finding a suitable replacement:
"We will find a solution when it comes to it but maybe not me. It might be another 10 years."
England has struggled to find a consistent back-up for Kane in recent tournaments, with Ollie Watkins and Ivan Toney being the most recent attempts. The current options are limited, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Liam Delap being the younger alternatives.
Experimenting with roles
Tuchel, however, is open to trying new things, as evidenced by deploying Jude Bellingham as a forward against the Czech Republic.
"I like him as a nine," Tuchel explained. "Then he can contribute to both sides and overload the sides and doesn't affect so much of the balance."
The manager is exploring various formations to utilise Kane's and Bellingham's strengths while preparing for the future.
