Imran Khan Remains Firm Despite Contacts Through Bushra Bibi, Claims Najam Sethi

Contacts with Imran Khan are ongoing—sometimes people are sent to meet him, and sometimes he is told they should; but sometimes Imran Khan meets them, and sometimes he says he has not met them, stated a senior journalist and analyst.
LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st Sep, 2026) Najam Sethi, a senior journalist and analyst, has revealed that regular contacts have been established with Imran Khan through various sources and Bushra Bibi over Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) 27th September long march and backchannel contacts with the government.
However, Imran Khan remains steadfast in his commitment and position.
While speaking during his television program, Sethi analyzed the political situation and noted that efforts to maintain contact with Imran Khan continue. At times, someone is sent to meet him, while at other times, someone else is dispatched; sometimes Imran Khan agrees to meet, and sometimes he firmly refuses.
Regular contacts through Bushra Bibi are in place, and all reports suggest that Imran Khan is resolute on his demands and stance.
Regarding PTI’s protest, Sethi claimed that the government or the state would not accept the party's demands for which the long march was announced. He argued that PTI’s extension of the march until 7th October was a tactic to gain time for backchannel talks or favorable court decisions during the one-week delay.
Addressing the state's response, Sethi warned that if PTI leverages its street power this time, the state would respond with equal force. He noted that Bushra Bibi and Ali Amin Gandapur had not anticipated the harsh crackdown they faced in 2024 and hadn't returned to the streets for two years due to fear. He assured that the state’s approach this time would be identical to what was witnessed in 2024.
