Inter-provincial Gutka Smuggling Bid Foiled, 2 Suspects Arrested
Hyderabad, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 10th Sep, 2026) Shaheed Benazirabad Police have achieved another major success in their ongoing crackdown against narcotics and harmful substances, foiling an inter-provincial gutka smuggling attempt and arresting two suspects.
This initiative was taken under the directives of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sumeer Noor Channa. According to a police spokesperson, the operation was carried out by Qazi Ahmed Police as part of intensified efforts against illegal and hazardous items.
Acting on routine patrol near Lakhat Mori, a police team led by Station House Officer (SHO) Qazi Ahmed intercepted a suspicious Toyota Corolla car. During search, the police recovered eight sacks of “Indian Taj / Safeena Gutka” from the vehicle. The seized material comprised a total of 400 packets containing 44,000 pouches of gutka. The car, found in an accidental condition, was also taken into custody.
Police arrested two inter-provincial suspects on the spot, identified as Waseem Bugti, son of Ustad Muhammad, and Elahi Bakhsh Brohi, a resident of District Jaffarabad, Baluchistan. A case has been registered against the accused at Qazi Ahmed Police Station under Crime No. 383/2026, under sections 4/5/8 of the SGMP Act 2019, and further investigation is underway.
SSP Sumeer Noor Channa stated that the smuggling of harmful substances and narcotics that destroy youth would not be tolerated under any circumstances. He reiterated that Shaheed Benazirabad Police would continue indiscriminate and vigorous actions against anti-social elements to ensure a safe and drug-free society. The SSP also appreciated the professional performance of SHO Qazi Ahmed and his team, commending their successful operation.
