Interior Minister Raises Concerns Over KP Situation, Urges Leadership To Avoid Long March

Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Monday expressed concern over the security situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and urged political leaders to avoid actions that could create further difficulties for the country and its people.

Speaking on the issue of KP, the minister said recent attacks had claimed the lives of security personnel, while plans for a long march were being discussed despite the prevailing circumstances. Addressing a press conference, Naqvi shared his attendance at funerals in Peshawar around 1:00 a.m. the previous night, highlighting political differences and emphasizing that he had never witnessed such a situation where KP government representatives or ministers did not attend the funerals of martyrs.

He emphasized that these martyrs belonged to Pakistan and questioned the absence of provincial government leaders from their funerals. Naqvi stated that the current situation in KP during the last 10 days was evident for everyone. He mentioned a suicide attack at a mosque and other attacks, resulting in the martyrdom of a captain, soldiers, and police personnel.

The minister criticized preparations for moving towards Islamabad while the province was facing security challenges and mourning its personnel. He argued that such actions would not bring any benefit, affect the country's economy, impact organizers, and harm ordinary people. Naqvi noted that the federal government had conveyed its position to the leadership during meetings in Islamabad, emphasizing that such activities could not achieve any objective.

He urged the leadership to reconsider their approach and avoid placing themselves in a difficult situation. Naqvi stated that if a long march was launched, the government would act according to the discussions held earlier. He assured there would be no loophole in implementation and added that most of the party's leadership did not favor a long march. However, if such a move occurred, the Islamabad High Court's orders were already in place, which the government would ensure are implemented in full.

Concluding his remarks, Mohsin Naqvi emphasized the importance of avoiding further complications and adhering to the law.
